Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Bindi Sergardi, Tuscany 2020
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is much the oldest and smallest of the three great DOCGs of Tuscany (the others being Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico), where wines of high quality are recorded as being made from as far back as the 8th century, and later much praised in Renaissance Florence and Rome.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has the depth and power of good Brunello, with the scents and fruit flavours of Chianti Classico. Here, Alessandra Bindi Sergardi, 25th generation winemaker of her distinguished family, expresses these qualities brilliantly in a 2020 which we all loved when we tasted it.
Although such single-grower wines from Montepulciano are typically priced at over £25 a bottle, our close relationship with Alessandra means that we can offer this new release at an attractive price.
