'Higham Pink' Single Estate English Rosé, Higham Vineyard, Suffolk 2023
Knowing quite a lot about rosé, I was not sure about this until I tasted it - how wrong I was. A light rosé with soft, lush fruit flavours that are uniquely Pinot Noir. Fresh, crisp and without question the best English rosé I have tasted.
The Higham Pinot Noir Vineyards are a tribute to the best in English viticulture and wine-making. Perfectly situated on limestone, rocky south facing slopes, overlooking the Stour valley in Suffolk, immortalised by John Constable who no doubt would have been proud of this magical addition to his countryside.
The wines that I tasted a few weeks ago were a revelation to me of just how good English still and sparkling wines can be. One which I am sure will soon be noticed by our French friends on the other side of the channel.
