It's the star of their show: the sumptuous 2021 Tête de Cuvée Rouge is made entirely from cabernet sauvignon grapes handpicked from only the very best plots and is, in short, a winemaking triumph. On the nose, intense, perfumed notes of blackcurrant and dried cranberry combine with delicate, sweet oak, on the palate, rich, spicy layers of juicy dark, bittersweet fruit with a fabulous freshness and structure. Over the coming years, the development of serious complexity is assured here - a complexity you would pay three or four times more for in Bordeaux.

About the producer
Domaine de la Jasse is situated some 15 kilometres from Montpellier in the heart of the Languedoc, the most dynamic wine area of Mediterranean France. Its name comes from the shelter and shade, known in the local dialect as jasse, provided by the Domaine's iconic Plane tree. This tree, which is over a century old, has provided the inspiration for the La Jasse trademark and logo.

Today La Jasse, one of the leading estates in the region, is recognised for its innovation and advanced techniques. The area is well known for attracting highly talented winemakers such as Bruno Le Breton, who has won numerous top awards with his La Jasse wines.

How does the wine taste? Customer Reviews (1)
La Jasse's premium cuvée is a Cabernet Sauvignon parcel selection, aged for 12 months in 220l barriques, adding aromas of woodsmoke and spice to the pronounced blackcurrant and plum fruit. Reminiscent perhaps of a loftier-priced claret, with profound black fruits, herbs, cedar and sweet spice. A wine of real posture and presence with fabulously ripe fruits and just the right amount of freshness with finely knit tannins and a harmonious, rounded finish. Drink to 2029.

"Finally, the 2018 Black Label Tête de Cuvée Rouge de la Jasse, made from 100 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon. Handpicked from the choicest vineyards plots and aged in large oak barriques for 12 months, its full of dark cherry, luscious blackcurrant, herbs and warming spice. Its delightfully rewarding and, if decanted and allowed to show off a bit, really would pass for something for pricier and grander."
