Travellers to the Iberian peninsula have long recognised what extraordinary quality and value Portuguese red wines have offered since the country joined the EU in 1986; when growers there were no longer obliged to sell their grapes to local cooperatives only.
The Dão Gandarada is one such wine, and sumptuously so. Produced in the mountains south of the Douro - at an altitude of 500m - its also made from Portugals top red grape varietal, Touriga Nacional, then aged for six months in oak barrels for an exquisite richness in aroma, body and texture. Here is a level of quality and value you can't help but recognise.
