Picpoul de Pinet, although almost unknown here until recently, has long been the darling of many a sommelier in the south of France. Now, however, extremely fashionable – and quite rightly. One is Bruno Lafon & François Chambossier's Racine Picpoul de Pinet, of which the new 2023 vintage, with its saline tang and lemony freshness is the perfect summer white wine.

Bruno Lafon, from a long line of Burgundian winemakers, came to the lovely, un-spoilt Languedoc twenty years ago with a mission to produce artisanal cuvées at far more accessible prices than those of his native Côte de Beaune.

Sourcing from vineyards Bruno has since planted just south of the ancient, lovely walled city of Carcassone, he and his partner François Chambossier now produce what is indisputably one of the finest Picpouls on the market.
