Special Cuvée, Bollinger
Bollinger is unquestionably among the greatest of Champagnes, and also one of the very few still owned by its founding family rather than by a luxury conglomerate. Long my favourite, Champagne Bollinger is also the oldest Royal Warrant holder (since Victorian times), with whom I award annually the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for 'best comic novel of the year'.
The ineffably delicious Special Cuvée is 60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier, with 85% of the grapes sourced from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards.
