From this up-and-coming producer a sensational Côtes du Rhône village and for us, one of the best value wines to be found in all the Rhône valley. Very Châteauneuf.

Domaine les Grands Bois was recommended to us as the best local grower by the owner of the best bistro in Cairanne, itself the best of the 21 Cotes-du-Rhone villages.

Made from 40 year old vines and aged in French oak barrels. Priorat with just Rioja has the highest designation for a wine appellation in Spain.

"Mid crimson. A little bit toasty too. Deliciously scented. Firm and serious on the palate. Finely dry tannins.

Made from low-yielding Grenache vines averaging over 70 years of age for a delicious example of how good modern Spanish winemaking gets.

Fine everyday drinking red, named after the Besnardeau three daughters from one of Robert parker’s favourite vineyards.

Warm, luscious cherry and plum fruit with woodsmoke, exotic spice, and fine, polished oak. A serious Gran Reserva still with years ahead of it.

Deeply coloured with profound black berry aromas, enhanced with a touch of spice and notes of garrigue and liquorice. A sumptuous wine from the excellent 2020 vintage.

Full of rich, vibrant fruit, and is of such quality that one might easily mistake the cuvée for a good Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Here's an outstanding Vacqueyras with complex flavours of ripe, blackcurrant fruit, strawberry jam and hints of spice. Smooth and rich on the palate, with soft tannins. 

Gigondas is the greatest of the smaller appellations in the southern Rhône and Christian Meffre of Château Raspail makes one of its best wines.
