Château Courac, Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Rouge, Laudun 2022
The hilltop village of Laudun, is just ten miles away, with a winemaking tradition that dates back to Roman times. Here, free-draining soils promote great acidity and freshness amongst these lovely, bramble fruit-packed wines. Every bit as good as many a Châteauneuf, and certainly where I head whenever Im looking for a great-value treat.

About the producer
Joséphine and Frédéric Arnaud took over this super property in 1995, and make wines of real warmth, generosity and purity of fruit. Set high in the hills above the village of Tresques (to the north-west of Châteauneuf-du-Pape) the Arnauds have 90 hectares of syrah and grenache vines from which they make their enduringly popular Laudun. Laudun itself is where the Romans first camped when they landed in the south of France - and they knew a thing or two about making wine!

Rather than add to previous tasting reviews, I'll simply say that I really enjoyed this wine and found it easy to give it 5 stars.
There is everything to like in this very well made red. Extremely versatile and very enjoyable drinking, whether on its own or to have with any meal for which a red wine is needed. Purists can complain if they like but it also drinks really well as an aperitif, with a bowl of marmite twiglets on the side. I am getting another order in!
Have now found the case and it makesfor very good value autumn drinking
I love chafeau-neuf du pape so was interested in this wine. It does feel and taste mostly like the 'real thing' and the price makes up for the rest.
I am very much enjoying this wine. There is something very warm and comforting about it, with deep fruit tastes and a lovely colour. I am taking a bottle to my sister's at the weekend: she is more of a oenophile than I, so her opinion will be interesting. My 5* rating is based with price in mind; there will be superior wines at much greater prices.
