Comte Leloup from 100-year-old vines at Bernard Chéreau's Château Chasseloir is, we think, the best Muscadet there is.

The grapes are picked by hand and aged with their lees to give richness and more body than you usually find in a Muscadet. And 2018 was an exceptional vintage in the Loire region.

As Hugh Johnson has written, "Muscadet has everything that should make serious wine-drinkers happy. It is a total individual, its tang of the ocean... perfectly matched to its ordained role as the seafood wine par excellence” (Hugh Johnson on Wine: Good Bits from 55 Years of Scribbling).

This wine is bottled and wrapped in gold wire netting, maintaining their local tradition. It is firm with lots of mature fruit - almost vigorous. It is rich and refreshing with complex flavours, making it a very great Muscadet that we should all be drinking, when warm summer days come round.

I cant describe wine flavours but this one is very good

"I feared the 2018 Comte Leloup du Chateau de Chasseloir Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie would be too long in the tooth but, gosh, how wrong could I be? It’s in great form, fresh, built to last. Indeed, it’s the current vintage from this brilliant producer, made from 100-year-old vines and aged on the lees for weight and body. Muscadet never used to be this serious nor this enjoyable."
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine
"From 100-year old vines, this lees-aged Melon de Bourgogne has a golden colour after four years in bottle, and a succulent, nicely maturing character of waxy lemon rind and juicy apple, with a hint of ocean spray. The palate has that juiciness too, a hint of nutty maturity, but lovely mouth-filling texture and balance. Long and delicious."
