Château Cissac, Cru Bourgeois Haut-Médoc 2018 (half bottle)
"Big and bold, this is concentrated and powerful with opulence and plushness. Tannins are ripe and chewy and mouthfilling, you feel the heat of the vintage here, the wood and the alcohol just present, full of sunkissed blackcurrants and black cherries, a little bit stewed in their ripeness but this also has a lovely fresh mint and liquorice tang to it and lifted finish which counteracts the fruit. Nicely complete and I love the density and the texture, the tannins have a lovely feel to them, it's mouth coating and so full. Would pair well with a nice steak. Classy and confident. From a single tract of vineyards extending 100ha and adjoining St-Estèphe and Pauillac on soils that are mainly sandy gravel on top of clay and limestone. Blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec, aged 16 months in 25% new oak barrels. 2022-2027"
